Interview with David Wagner

We are so excited to have David Wagner joining us this year at Kingdom Family Gathering.

David Wagner is known for his passion for Jesus Christ and his love for people. He is recognized as a relevant and accurate prophetic voice that God is using all over the earth today. He uses his prophetic gifting to empower, equip, and encourage people to discover their destiny and identity in Christ. Dave has a huge heart of mercy and carries a special grace to meet people wherever they are at in life.

We recently connected with David to discuss ministry, family…and joining Leif at the Kingdom Family Gathering.

Q: What is your favorite or most memorable place you have travelled to? I usually love wherever I am but my favorite place to travel is Australia. The natural beauty is breath taking and the supernatural hunger for God is amazing at the moment.

Q: What book are you currently reading or have recently read that is impacting your life? ‘Defining Moments’ by Bill Johnson and ‘Holy Doubt’ by Erica Barthalow and of course the amazing ‘Giant Slayers’ by Leif Hetland!

Q: What was your first job and what did it teach you? I started working at Sids Greenhouse and Plant Nursery when I was 14. I worked as a laborer but quickly began to study the tags on plants which birthed a love for landscaping and landscape design. I learned that hard work paid off and that if you love what you do life is a whole lot more fun.

Q: If you could incite three people to dinner from any point in history, who would you invite? The obvious would be Jesus but I will go with:  1) Abraham Lincoln. 2) Martin Luther King Jr. 3) Peter the apostle.

Q: What does family look like to you in connection with your personal ministry and calling? The kingdom is built by revelation, relationship, and generations. We have immersed our kids in ministry since they were babies and taught them how to live naturally supernatural lives. We love, laugh, and do life together,  whether we are in church, on the mission field, or playing and relaxing. My wife Molly is prophetic like me but she releases it through art and writing. Our daughter Arah, loves missions, has a strong gift of compassion and she is also a writer. Benjamin has been praying for people since he was 6 months old and flows in word of knowledge and healing. Caleb started prophesying when he was 2 1/2 years old, he is a seer and feeler, but keeps it quiet most of the time. Josh is our miracle boy who loves to dream and Isaac is our creative son who loves everyone he meets.

Q: Is there a significant encounter with the Lord that Impacted your life and propelled you into your calling? I’ve had many encounters but one of my greatest encounters happened while I was cleaning the women’s bathroom at our church. I was scrubbing the toilet in the third stall when the Lord spoke these words to me; “You have set your affection on My house and today I have set My affection on your house.” A visible cloud filled the bathroom and kept me on the floor speaking in tongues for over 3 hours. My pastor came back to the church later that night and heard me groaning, he called my name but I couldn’t answer. He followed the sound to the ladies bathroom and pushed the door open. The cloud came out and knocked him to the ground for hours as well. He had been in full time ministry for over 50 years and said that was one of the most intense encounters he ever had as well. That encounter gave me an even greater love for the Presence of God, the house of God and the people of God. My serving was not from the place of a job or obligation. It was from a place of serving, surrender, and worship.

Q: Can you share an experience where an atmosphere of praise profoundly shifted an environment? While in Uganda in 2015 we were in the middle of a village facing strong opposition from witch doctors and leaders of other religions. They would not let us hold meetings in the village as we had planned, but let us go up the side of a hill to meet and do our outreach there. Most of the people were disappointed because they worked so hard and had to basically start the set up from scratch. As we began to praise and worship Jesus, the sound carried into the village we wanted to be in and hundreds of people began to come up to where we were. People came by the hundreds to be healed, set free, and over a 1,000 people came to Christ that week. Two witch doctors came to Jesus and burned all of their old idols and shrines etc. The village is now considered a Christian village and everything has changed.

Q: What motivates and inspires you to keep doing what you do? The Love of God continually compels me to GO! I have a deep love for God and for people. Everyday I pray two specific prayers: “Lord show me whats on the other side of my obedience” and “Holy Spirit do whatever you want to do today just don’t do it without me!”

I absolutely love this: “Holy Spirit do whatever you want to do today just don’t do it without me!”

And I love how Papa turned to good what the enemy meant for harm in Uganda. How many came only because they could hear from the hill? Like a natural amphitheatre! Papa is so good!
