It was more than 2,000 years ago that Jesus challenged his Church with the great commission to go unto all the world and make disciples of all nations. They went on proclaiming that everyone who hears His name and believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.
God wants everyone to come to Him and receive salvation. This good news is for everyone, but some have never heard the gospel, nor do they know a loving God.
There are
people living today who have never once heard the good news of Jesus.
That’s a staggering
of the global population.
In Acts 1:8, Jesus commands His followers to equip His church and to take the Good News to where no church exists. This has become our holy ambition (Rom. 15:20-21).
Finishing the unfinished task is more than church planting. It’s discipling individuals, cities, and nations in the ways of Jesus.

Currently, there’s a total of
known unreached people groups. Imagine a world where the gospel has permeated and transformed every tongue, tribe and nation.
In Matthew 28:19-20, the resurrected Jesus commands His disciples to “Go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”
In Luke’s account, Jesus clarifies the disciples’ mission as being witnesses and proclaiming repentance and the forgiveness of sins to all nations. He then tells His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they receive power from on high (Lk. 24:46-49). Luke’s account emphasizes the importance of receiving empowerment from the Holy Spirit.
The disciples would not work in their own strength to fulfill the Great Commission. The Holy Spirit would live in them and empower them to finish the task. Everyone who has confessed Jesus has received the same invitation He gave to His disciples more than 2,000 years ago; proclaim repentance and forgiveness of sins to family members, friends, neighbors, communities, and the nations.
Moreover, Jesus exhorts his disciples to live with the
in mind.
Matthew 22:37-40 states, “Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Followers of Jesus are exhorted to live fully forgiven, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and compelled by love, ready to give their lives for the gospel.
The great imbalance of missions speaks to the important need to fund and send missionaries to unreached parts of the world. Currently, most churches send missionaries into regions of the world that have already been reached and have access to the gospel.
Only three percent of missionaries go to unreached places, while ninety-five percent of Christian workers work within the Christian world. Some scholars suggest that there are only 5,000 known missionaries in the Muslim World. That’s an astonishing 1 missionary to 400,000 Muslims.
Only 1.7% of “Missions Giving” goes to work among Unreached Peoples. The remaining “Missions Giving” goes to places already reached with the gospel.
According to The Traveling Team, for every $100,000 that Christians make, they give $1.83 to the unreached.
How can we rebalance the great imbalance? IT STARTS WITH YOU!!
